Kilsyth guard Charlie Angus has been named an AABL Next Scholarship recipient, recognising one of Victoria’s emerging young players ahead of the 2026 Reebok AABL season.
A 6’2″ guard from the Class of 2027, Angus competes with the Kilsyth 18.1 Boys and has also stepped into senior competition with the Kilsyth Victorian Youth Championship Men across the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
At under-18 level, Angus has established himself as a high-level scorer, averaging 23 points per game in Victorian Championship competition while continuing to build experience across Basketball Victoria’s high-performance pathway.
He has been part of the Basketball Victoria High Performance Program since 2021, progressing through FDP, SDP and SPP, and has twice been selected for the East Coast Challenge in 2024 and 2026.
His representative experience also includes School Sport Victoria selection for the 2025 Australian School Sports Games, where he served as team captain, as well as selection as a Victoria Metro emergency for the 2026 U18 program.
In 2026, Angus was also selected for the Australia Select team competing at the Shanghai Future Stars Tournament, adding international experience to an already strong junior basketball résumé.
The AABL Next Scholarship recognises athletes aged 16–17 who are demonstrating the performance, competitiveness and potential to make an impact as they progress through the game. Angus’ combination of scoring ability, representative experience and exposure to higher-level competition reflects exactly what the program was created to recognise.
