The AABL Athlete Scholarship Fund has been established to create greater access to the Reebok All Australian Basketball League while recognising athletes at different stages of their entry into the competition. Reebok is the principal funding partner of the 2026 AABL Athlete Scholarship Fund, supporting scholarship opportunities across the league.
Three Scholarship Opportunities
The AABL Athlete Scholarship Fund includes three scholarship classifications: AABL Now, AABL Next and AABL One. Each provides a different opportunity for athletes entering the AABL Combine and Draft process.
AABL Now | Ages 18–20
AABL Now recognises established athletes aged 18 to 20 who have demonstrated a strong level of performance and are ready to put their game on record. Selected AABL Now athletes will have their AABL Combine participation fully covered and will be featured across the AABL website and social media platforms as part of the AABL Now athlete group.
Selection as an AABL Now athlete provides access to the Combine but does not guarantee selection in the AABL Draft.
AABL Next | Ages 16–17
AABL Next identifies emerging athletes aged 16 to 17 who demonstrate significant potential and are considered players to watch. Selected AABL Next athletes will have their AABL Combine participation fully covered and will be featured across the AABL website and social media platforms as part of the AABL Next athlete group. Like AABL Now, the scholarship provides an opportunity to enter the Combine and compete for a place in the league.
AABL One | First-Round Draft Selections
AABL One is earned through performance. Every athlete selected in the first round of their state’s AABL Draft will receive an AABL One season scholarship, covering their participation in the AABL for that season.
AABL One recognises the athletes who perform strongly through the Combine assessment process and emerge among the leading Draft selections in their state.
The Combine Still Decides
AABL Now and AABL Next create access to the Combine. They do not guarantee a Draft position or selection into the league. Every athlete enters the same assessment environment and must earn their position through performance. AABL One begins after that assessment: first-round Draft selection earns the season scholarship.
